Thank you for your support at the polls on April 7th.

For the next two years I mean to keep my finger on the pulse of Lawrence and ensure the City Commission has our best interests in mind when they make decisions affecting us all.

“We have tomorrow Bright before us Like a flame”
Quotation from Langston Hughes, on the front of City Hall, near “The Flame” sculpture.

“The future’s so bright, I gotta wear shades!”
Recorded by Timbuk3, lyrics by Pat McDonald

Lawrence has always been attractive to people.  People who came here in the belief that their vision for the future, and hard work, could change the world for the better.

The greatest economic incentive we have always had is the quality of life Lawrence provides.  Even in current hard times, such as those that afflict us now, we have reason to believe in a bright future, if we keep that quality of life alive.

We must be careful that the difficult budgetary decisions we face don’t lead us to permanently damage that future. The Langston Hughes quotation on City Hall must be kept true for everyone.
